MADISON - OutReach, Madison and South Central Wisconsin’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Community Center, is seeking nominations of individuals, organizations and businesses that have made outstanding contributions to Madison and South Central Wisconsin’s LGBT community in the past year. Awards will be presented at OutReach’s 22nd Annual Community Awards Banquet, to be held Friday, September 12th, at the Monona Terrace Convention Center.

This year’s theme is in honor of marriage equality coming to Wisconsin. Our theme is Love is Love: Marriage Equality Comes to Wisconsin. Help us celebrate the evening with those who have positively impacted the lives of people who identify as LGBT. Please take a few minutes to nominate a person or organization whose work make(s) a substantial contribution to OutReach’s mission “improving equality and quality of life for LGBT people” in South Central Wisconsin. The purpose of this banquet is to shine a spotlight on those who have created positive change in the fight for equality. Please help us celebrate those accomplishments by nominating a person or organization you feel would be a perfect fit.

A committee of community members reviews nominations and selects award recipients. Past award winners, OutReach staff, board members, and their family members are not eligible to receive awards.

Award categories are OutReach LGBTQ Advocate of the Year, OutReach Business or Organization of the Year, OutReach Ally of the Year (non-LGBT individuals or groups that support the LGBT community) and Harry Straetz Memorial OutReach Volunteer of the Year. The Courage Award may not be presented every year but are categories available for nomination. The OutReach Board of Director’s Special Recognition award may not be awarded every year and is not open to the public for nomination.

OutReach has combined the Man and Woman of the Year Award into a single category to be mindful of those advocates who identify as Trans*.

OutReach staff, board, and volunteers wish to recognize all people and organizations who create positive change for the entire LGBTQ communities.

The OutReach LGBT Community Center has served Madison & Dane County’s lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender communities since 1973, providing peer-counseling, advocacy, education, and information/referral services.
